iPod All songs/settings magically disappeared??

A couple of days ago i plugged in my ipod to have it updated.

then, last night i go to listen to some music in my car and all of my songs and settings were erased. it was like i had a brand new ipod that was never touched.

i was extremely confused as to what happened. any ideas?? 😕
 
Does the About This iPod screen still mention that you're still using up some disk space on the iPod (implying the songs are there but are not visible)? Also, have you tried resetting it? 🙂
