I have a third party stick of ram, 1gb, that I am currently using in my Powerbook. Yet I am getting a new MBP with the one slot of 1gb ram, and looking to put 2gb in it. Will I be able to simply swap my third party 1gb stick out of my powerbook and use it fully in my MBP? Do they use a different type of RAM? The guy at the apple store told me that this is not possible, as the ram in the MBP is a faster type of ram and the powerbook ram is not compatible? I just wanted to check here too... thanks

You're friendly Apple Store Guy was right-- you can't do it.

Maybe have a read through this page (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303491). It's got some pretty useful stuff on MacBook Pro RAM. :)

As others have pointed out, you sadly can not use the RAM from your PowerBook G4 in your new MacBook Pro. :o

Check out www.datamem.com for some great prices on RAM for your MBP. :)
