Now that it has been discontinued I'm finding it impossible to get an iSight here in the UK. Was wondering if anybody could suggest any other webcams to use with my mac.

I wondered why you waited till they discontinued iSight product? Expecting any discount?

Nah- my girlfriend has gone home for the summer and it would be nice to see her. Haven't needed a webcam until now.

Try to go to reseller store or any other store to see if they have any iSight left. Not sure about that. Good luck.

The point is I've resigned myself to not getting an iSight but I wondered if anyone knows any other webcams. They dont even need to be FW or of a particularly high quality- I'm only gonna need it for 2/3 months

You have any relatives or friends in America who could buy one and send it to you?

nope
The real point of this thread is to find me a suitable alternative to an isight or at least a half-decent webcam

i think there is one webcam for mac besides the iSight. still, people have written drivers for other webcams.

This is a good alternative if you can't find iSight or you want something cheaper.

No idea about drivers but it's really a pain to make those Windows ones work with Macs.
Maybe you could also try Logitech QuickCam™ Pro something...my friend has one and he said it works with Macs as well...

That's quite a deal! Would it work to record movies and with photobooth?
(Not that I have photobooth on my mac mini;) )

no idea but it works with iChat and Yahoo Messenger. I assume it could work with PhotoBooth but I'm not a hundred percent sure...
