Games in Mac

I am not a hardcore gamer. But don't we have small games (not games with graphics... small snippet games like pacman, solitare...) in Mac? I have googled and all i find is Sharewares.

Man, Mac really is trailing in this aspect. We ought to have small free games to kill time...

Subscribe to MacAddict. They give you CDs every month with random programs on them, including games. Sometimes they're pretty cool.

And I mean you do know that macs support most of the popular PC game titles...right?

Yes, I know that Mac has most of the pc game titles. But,

1. I'm not a 3D gamer. All I;m looking for is simple games that would kill away some time.
2. My Macbook does not have enhanced graphics to play big games.

So, I was hoping to dl small games of few KB size, and I couldn't find any. But Windows had many from day 1. I remember playing pacman, diger, dave, snake, frog years b4... Now I used to play few flash games from Yahoo (which don't work in Mac)

There are a lot of games out there to download. I can't give you all the correct info at the moment, but figured I could give you a couple quick answers that you specified.

Hmm...maybe this will help.

Now I don't encourage emulating, but....

SNES9X Universal Binary (Super Nintendo Emulator)

(Usually when I unzip the roms, I use the Stuffit Expander...either way, the Roms are encrypted. The password for those Roms is "www.romguy.com")

You can find Roms and Emulators all over the web, just be careful.

So yeah. I usually do this when I'm bored out of my mind. I've got Super Mario All-Stars, Harvest Moon, Zelda, Megaman X...all on my mac.

Can Macbooks (not Pros) run Sims or Civilization or Half life 2? It looks like these are the best games available for the Mac today...

yep you can run Civi3,Sims2 on OSX&Windows but im not sure about HL2

Last but not least, your Mac Book DOES have some 3D capability, and can even play fun titles like Unreal Tournament 2004 (my favorite--so many free add-ons it's like 1000 games in one) if you set the detail levels low. Casual 3D games should be fine too, plus Pangea's stuff (commercial games, but you can try before you buy):

Games that are "Universal Binaries" (Intel-friendly) are preferred, but some games can be fine even without that.

The games you mention may run on Mac, but if they don't allow you to set the detail low enough... they'll run slowly. Game titles are more likely to run on the Intel integrated graphics if they don't use really high-end 3D. I doubt HL2 can be set low enough.

The real things lacking in the Mac game world, to my mind are: 1) racing games and 2) map editors. Both are rare. But the editor for UT2007 is planned for Mac :)

As for mini games, try Crack Attack. Sometimes randomly quits on startup, but once it's running, it's bugless. I play it whenever I get really bored....

Age of Empires 2 runs perfectly. I play it quite often. You would never know it's running under Rosetta!

I think online games are best for time killing.

And I mean you do know that macs support most of the popular PC game titles...right? OH! You mean like counter strike and halflife 2?, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, far cry, Crysis, and such?

honestly, if u want to kill time, theres thousands of free fun games on websites, and the best part is that there fun, challenging, and very very different! the best sites for games are www.2flashgames.com, www.ebaumsworld.com (this site has fun "crude" games) also addictingames.com is a fun site

Personally, I like ebaumsworld, try the game home run, your a drunk guy and you have to try to walk home, its hilarious:D
