10mm wide angle vs 15mm?

other than price... what would be an advantage of buying a 15mm wide angle canon lens over a 10mm? i only have $600 to spend and would like a very decent wide angle.

i am using the canon eos 350d

this would be opposed to a 10mm wide angle lens by canon. i just want to get that extreme wide effect yet have it still be clear.

if i'm going to spend hundreds of dollars, i want to be sure that what i'm buying is worth it! would a 15mm lens be worth it with the 1.6x crop?

That 15 mm lens is a fisheye. These are 2 very different lenses that do 2 very different things.

You want a wide-angle lens that takes wide, yet "clear" images. I don't know what you mean by clear, but I don't think things will look as clear using the 15 mm fisheye lens, if I understood your meaning correctly.

Some fisheye lenses will result in a photo that doesn't fill the frame, so you really need to know what you're getting. I'd get a 10.5 mm Nikkor fisheye, but you shoot Canon, so I really don't know.

To be honest, most fisheyes are not very useful on digital with crops. You lose a lot of the effect and the FOV- you're better off with a rectilinear lens (one that doesn't fisheye). The Sigma 10-20mm has a good reputation for the Nikon mount version, which is identical to the Canon version except for the actual mount and lens contacts. It's better than having a sort of half fisheye unless that is the effect you're looking for.

If you use Photoshop CS2, it has a built in "de-fisher" that will bring your images back to a normal view. I personally would pick up the 15mm because it is a f/2.8 and it is a canon lens (i personally buy just canon lenses)
