macbook maximum resolution?

Hey all--- I have a rather pertinent inquiry about the MacBook's resolution display. Namely, what is it? If I plugged in a 24-inch 1900x1200 display, would it reject it? Thanks.

It will take anything you throw at it; pretty sure it uses dual link DVI, which means it can take the highest rez displays on the market (apple and dell's 30 inchers)

Only the MBP has dual-link dvi. The max external resolution for the MB is 1920x1200.

And that's DVI only. We had a thread about the max VGA resolution yesterday (it's 1600x1200).

Very good. So if I use a VGA adapter, it's 1600x1200, with DVI it's 19x12. That means that a 1080p display is possible, if I somehow get ahold of one.

All Macs now support output to HD-capable displays, the iMac, MacBook and Mac mini support up to 1920x1200 (23" ACD or equivalent with the DVI interface) and the PowerMac G5 and MacBook Pro support up to 2560x1600 (30" ACD or equivalent with the dual-link DVI interface).

It's one of the big selling points of Mac laptops - very hard to find a PC laptop with DVI-out, it makes a huge difference plugging them into a big screen compared with VGA, the colours and sharpness are much better with the full digital connection.

There are a couple (relatively) cheap 1920 x 1080 lcd TVs, e.g. the Westinghouse LVM-37w1 for about $1000. Will these work as MacBook monitors using their DVI inputs? Does anybody have experience with this? Is there a 3rd party video driver for setting this up? I know there's such an animal for the PC, Powerstrip or something like that, that allows you to tweak all the paramaters for optimal output to a non-computer monitor lcd screen.

I know that BenQ and Acer (AT3705) both offer 37" LCD TV's with 1920 x 1080 but in computer mode or whatever they want to call it max res is 1280 x 768. If anyone knows how to bypass this I'm very interested.
