Software to convert .rmvb files

Does anyone know any freeware or shareware to convert .rmvb files to .avi or .mpeg so that I can put them onto my iPod?

I have tried converting .rmvb video files on applications such as iSquint but it does not support the file type.

I know that software is available on Windows but are there any on Mac?
 
ffmpeg should be able to do the job but i dunno i haven't had good experience with it. it just doesn't work for me. just do it on a Windows machine if possible. encoding rmvb files on a Mac is just a pain...
