Hi there,

So i have a 4th Gen iPod with a bad hard drive (its been dead now for about a year). I finally bought another dead 4th gen that had a good hard drive and went to switch it out. When i pluged it in, I couldn't get anything to work. It showed the begining of the dead battery status and kinda froze. So then i switched out the battery and it came up, everythign seemed to work.

But it wont charge. When i plug it into an AC/firewire plug, it doesn't register that it is plugged in. If i connect it to my computer, it mounts up fine and transferring music is fine, but it shows the power meter as the lightning bolt icon with a solid battery. I then ran down the battery for a while and plugged it back in and came down a few hours later and the battery hadn't charged at all. Any ideas on why its not charging? Thanks!

Have you tried all of these from the apple website?
These five steps (known as the five Rs) will conquer most iPod issues.
1. Reset your iPod.
2. Retry with a different USB port.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software.
5. Restore your iPod.
