Hey guys...I'm more of a regular in the digital video forum, but I'm here to ask for peace of mind...

I want to get into photograghy as a hobby. I'm 90% noob. I can pick this up from a local seller (no internet scam) for $700. Good deal, right? Good rig for a rookie to learn with, right?

Silver Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT Camera
*Canon 18-55mm EF-S Lens
*Sigma 75-300mm Lens
*Optima External Flash
*Wall Charger and Battery
*USB Connector
*Video Output Cord
*512 MB CompactFlash Memory Card
*Box w/ All Manuals and Software
*Camera Bag

Thanks!

if it's the eos 350d (with 8MP) then it's almost to good to be true.

It is. And it's local, so I can put my hands on it before I buy. I'd be an idiot not to grab it, huh? What would "market value" be...a more typical price?

Well the camera and EF lens together new is around $800.

The Sigma lens should be a 70-300, not a 75-300. That goes for around $130. The other stuff is just that... stuff. I would not value it at over $100 for the rest.

If you do decide to get it, do yourself a favor and get a Canon 430EX or 580EX flash unit.
