Downloading .WMA files

on my new macbook, whenever i download a .wma file, it saves on my desktop as a doc file instead of music file. Is there a way i can change this??
 
click to select file, select Get Info from the File pull down menu, select "Open with", change to whatever, click the "Change All..." button.
 
it won't let me open wit' itunes because it saves them as a document, not a music file. I've tried that before.

He means the file that shows up on your desktop when you download it.
 
Download the file.
Click once to select it.
Get Info.
Open with -> Change apps
Click Change All button.
 
iTunes doesn't play WMA files. It's a Windows format.
Something like Popwire or Flip4Mac (Google them) will play them in QT.

I think that's what you're asking . . .

When you say "doc" file, do you mean a Microsoft Word doc file? If so, maybe you've downloaded a bogus word document meant to look like a wma file. Then when you open it, a word macro virus launches. But luckily, you're using a Mac.

If not, then maybe you don't have the latest codecs for wma files (aka Flip4Mac).
