I just saw this article in the Mac observer:
http://www.macobserver.com/article/2003/03/10.6.shtml

here is an excerpt I like:

In the graphic professional - or 'creative market' - Anderson said that despite Apple's dominance, sales are substantially off. For things to improve, Apple believes the economy must fist rebound, "significant increases in performance" of the Power Mac line must happen, and Quark Express for OS X must be released. "In our Power Mac line, we're also committed to more aggressive pricing as evidence of what we did late in January, so we can have even stronger price performance in our Power Mac line going forward. We're very focused as a company in taking the actions necessary to re-build the sales volume on our Power Mac line," he said.

I think Apple is working to bring the 970 as soon as possible. I hope it comes sometime in the middle of this year, or even maybe at WWDC, but I don't think so.

What do you guys think?

*crosses fingers*

I'll have my new PowerBook paid off by mid-year. Please, Apple, give me a reason to buy a desktop this summer.

One would think that if you are going to report well, be reputable and quote someone, that you could spell the name of the applications correct.

It's QuarkXPress, not Quark Express. Good god, look it up!

Makes me wonder about the rest of their reporting.

-----fist rebound,

Not any time soon.

-----"significant increases in performance" of the Power Mac line
-----must happen

G5/IBM 970! Where is it?!

-----and Quark Express for OS X must be released.

Uh no. People, try Adobe InDesign. Forget PorkXpress.

-----"In our Power Mac line, we're also committed to more

Aggressive pricing applied mostly to laptops. Desktop prices could drop some more.

-----We're very focused as a company in taking the actions
-----necessary to re-build the sales volume on our Power Mac
-----line," he said.

Lower pricing + G5/IBM 970

-----I think Apple is working to bring the 970 as soon as possible.

Oh, they better.

-----I hope it comes sometime in the middle of this year, or even
-----maybe at WWDC, but I don't think so.

Oh, it better.

It is good to know that Apple is tackling their 2 largest problems:
prices and speed.

I can't wait for the update. ;).

the 970 will cure their ailments, they will once again start using benchmarks and not that 1 obscure photoshop one. Motorolas g4 screwed apple with no developement. Thats a fact. Maybe apple has finally put this together.
