Keyboard Shortcut for Search in Finder?

I totally dig the way I can search up or down in Firefox just by pressing /. Takes me back to my vi days in UNIX. Last night I was doing some serious multi-tasking with InDesign, Photoshop, Firefox and Finder and the one thing that slowed me down - just a bit - was the fact that I always had to mouse up to the search box in the top right corner of the Finder window. Not talking about Spotlight, or the more advanced Find, just the simple Search function with the magnifying glass.

Is there a way I can assign / to get me into that box?

Apple-F when in Finder. Is that what you mean?Thanks, but no. That brings up the more advanced Find function. I'm looking for a way to get into the Search box without having to mouse up there... It just seems quicker than Find, which is great but not as slick as Search, IMHO.

I don't think you'll get there with Tiger's built-in mapping tool. It doesn't let you define shortcuts without modifier keys. Worse, the menu text doesn't change from "Find", so there is no way to map the "option" variation to something else.

Maybe some third-party tool that lets you make keyboard macros would to the trick.

I find myself using Apple + space bar a lot, opens the Spotlight menu.

Sorry, I know its not what your after - but I find it easier and more precise.
