Man I would kill for a copy of that program. Might I ask where you got a hold of a copy? Also would this software run on an IBook G4? Everything I read about it always says you need a ATi Rage (pro) model GPU and a G3 mac. Does anyone know if this program works with modern day GPUs (i.e 9550 to 9700 radeon cards) and more modern day macs?

Are you looking for Connectix VGS? Because I have a copy I'm looking to get rid of. PM me if that is the case.

For OSX, Flarestorm or PCSX. Both can be downloaded from www.emuscene.com. Just use the cookie-crumble navigation near the top of the page to find them [Consoles->Sony Playstation->].

I got my PS1 down from the attic and have been playing it like mad recently. not as good as what I remember. but I do have the fabled Demo1 CD, a very rare and sought after demo CD released in the UK. First one.
Though too much Tomb Raider and my hand started to ache. damn that silly controller.

I had several of those. They were all different :rolleyes:
Also would this software run on an IBook G4?
I'm pretty sure that the iBook G4 can't run OS 9, which is required.

The Playstation BIOS is illegal to own unless you actually own the console itself. But Google is your friend in this situation, and so am I. If you need be, I can send you a copy of it via email, but by doing so you must OWN a Playstation console.

If I had didn't get my PS1 down from the attic I would have agreed on this. I had this rose tinted vision of a super machine. But playing yesterday, I felt let down. Where Nintendo and Sega's console age so well the same can't be said about the PS1. I find the rush to 3D degraded the system somewhat, very choppy frame-rates, very bad graphics glitches really take away from the fun. The frame-rates in FF7 actually give me a migraine if I play for more than 15 minutes.
Plus the Cube had remakes of the 2 best PS1 games - MGS and Resident Evil. I never played Resident Evil before the Cube one and bloody hell! watching my mate play the PS1 version last year I fell apart laughing at the terrible cutscenes. I always saw the RE series as serious, yet the first game just isn't. Then again I have only played RE1 and RE4 (Cube). gamecube? the PS1 but without the plethora of RPG's (but with my fave current gen RPG - Tales of Symphony).

My question is this...Does anyone know where I can get a playstation BIOS ripper for OSX? I'd like to rip a few of my games on to my HD to play with one of these emulators (some of my games can't boot off the disk). EDIT I figured it out.

Yeah, currently the only way I've found to run PSX games is through Boot Camp :(

Do you own a Playstation? If not, you'll need to use a BIOS-less emulator such as Bleem or the Windows version of VGS.

However that is done [getting the BIOS to a computer harddrive] chances are it is done through windows. There are probably some other special cables that you'd have to get a hold of also though I really have no idea.
If you do have a PS then just google the BIOS. You can find everything you need if you spend enough time.

doing that is just as illegal as downloading it from some torrent site, plus it's allot less hassle.
this whole pretending to do something thats not legal in a quazi legal way annoys me, why not just be honest and practical.

:confused: What do you mean? My iBook G3 is currently running 10.3.9 (and could probably run 10.4 if I could be bothered), and came with OS 9! It shouldn't be too hard getting OS 9 discs...

Macintosh: Some Computers Only Start Up in Mac OS X (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86209)
In September 2002, Apple announced that starting in January 2003, new Macintosh computers would only start up into Mac OS X, while retaining the ability to use most Mac OS 9 applications in Mac OS X's "Classic" environment.
These Macintosh computers only start up in Mac OS X:
* PowerBook G4 (12-inch) and later models of 12-inch PowerBook G4
* PowerBook G4 (15-inch FW 800) and later models of 15-inch PowerBook G4
* PowerBook G4 (17-inch) and later models of 17-inch PowerBook G4
* Power Mac G4 (FW 800)
* Power Mac G5 and later models of Power Mac G5
* iBook G4 and iBook G4 (14-inch) and later models of iBook
* iMac (Flat Panel) with serial numbers of xx303xxxxxx or later
* iMac (17-inch 1 GHz) and later models of iMac
* eMac (ATI Graphics) most models (see Note)
* eMac (USB 2.0) and later models of eMac
* Mac mini
Note: eMac (ATI Graphics) models with CD-ROM or Combo drives can boot into Mac OS 9.
Tip: These computers include a Mac OS 9 System Folder on the Mac OS X volume. This System Folder contains the necessary files to run the Classic environment. If the System Folder is deleted or otherwise unavailable, it can be restored using the Restore discs that came with the computer. For more information, see "Mac OS X: How to Reinstall Mac OS 9 or Recover From a Software Restore".
