Yonah pricing after Merom/Conroe

I did read somewhere, although i've forgoten where, that the Core Duo (Yonah) chips will see big price cuts after Core Duo 2 is realeased. Has anyone seen any further information on the web about this?

Looking at the current pricing for Merom/Conroe, I suspect they could receive quite a price drop - which would be good news for the Mini and Macbook. Incidentally, how much do you think those 1.5ghz Core Solo chips in the low end Mini are selling for now? In the wake of Merom/Conroe they can't be worth much at all.

They wouldn't be worth much, but that doesn't mean they are any cheaper to manufacture. I think Core Duo will not be reduced in price at all, and it will be removed from Intel's price list shortly after Merom is introduced.

These "new" prices that you give are actually the prices in Intel's June 2006 price list, and they are the same as the rumored prices for Meroms at the same clock speed (that is, Core Duo 2.16 GHz sells at $423 since June, and Merom 2.16 GHz will sell at $423). Google for "Intel price list".

Ah so it is. Well if there's going to be a further price drop I can't imagine it being massive. Maybe 10% or so?

either yonahs will se an additinal price drop, or theyll be phased out rather quickly
