This has been happening since last year, but I have not played it because of this problem. I insert a disc, you can here it try to read it, but it just stops and says it cannot read the discs. I have tried every disc I have, none work. I never touched the lens, or any other part for that matter. I want to know if anyone else has had this problem, and if you did, what did you do?

rub a q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol on the lens, then take the other dry end of the q-tip and dry it. try then.

Same thing here-I think the motor might have just given out.

Sad, innit?

It has not happened to my gamecube, however, it DID happen to my PS2 and alcohol on the lens did the trick and made it run perfectly again.

Hmm, alcohol didn't work... This is getting upsetting. I want to play Starfox so bad! Anyone know any other methods?

Drink the alcohol, sign the Gamecube and sell it on eBay as "George Clooneys broken Gamecube".

The Wii will play Gamecube games, right?

wow, i've never heard of anything going wrong with a nintendo system before.

in any case, call them about it; there service is great. I'd imagine they would take care of a problem like that for you

I had something like this happen a while back.

Sent gamecube in to Nintendo and they replaced the motor and worked fine since.

It only happened sporadically and only with certain games

You could always try spinning the disk with your finger (remember they go clockwise) and then quickly closing the tray and activating the game. If it can then read it fine then it means the motor's burnt out.

My GameCube started to suffer occasional random disk read errors. My solution? The current issue of GameInformer (the Need For Speed Carbon one) has a coupon for +$20 on tradein of a console, and GameStop pays $10 for a broken GameCube. $10+$20 = $30, and a refurb GameCube is $60- so I basicly got a new GameCube for $30...

sell the gamecube on ebay as broken and get a few bucks for it then go get a brand new one. they're only 99 bucks. i can find 99 bucks in change on the floor.

I had no idea that Gamestop bought broken GameCubes. When mine busted, I threw it in the trash and bought a new one. Luckily it was around christmas time. The bundles at the time were awesome. A GC, 2 controllers and Double Dash for $99. I'll take it!
