Taking my inspiration from this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=220091) thread, I was wondering what people would pay for the following:

15" G4 PowerBook
1.5GHz
1GB RAM (2x 512MB)
80GB HD
Combo Drive
APE/BT
Applecare until 5/16/08
All original packaging and software
Near-perfect condition (no pitting, scratches, or dead pixels)

I had been hoping to trade it for an iBook + cash, but if someone offered the right price I would just go ahead and sell it. Since people often ask, my reason for selling would be to move to a physically smaller laptop.

Thanks!

well Apple is selling:
Refurbished PowerBook G4 15-inch 1.67GHz SuperDrive
512MB DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (128MB DDR)
AirPort Extreme
Bluetooth 2.0+Enhanced Data Rates
Backlit keyboard
Scrolling Trackpad
Dual Link DVI

Price $1,349

But because you have 2 more years of Apple care and extra ram probably somewhere between, $1,200- $1,300.

That's pretty close to what I thought (though I doubt anyone around here would pay it because they're all about the latest and greatest... and cheap  ). I came to my number a bit differently, though.

I used the 12" refurb model because it runs at the same processor speed.
Refurbished PowerBook 12-inch 1.5GHz SuperDrive
512MB DDR333 SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (64MB DDR)
AirPort Extreme
Bluetooth 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rates

Price $1199

Now my computer has a larger screen, twice the RAM, better connectivity (full-sized video ports, s-video, FW800, PCI slot), and nifty features like an illuminated keyboard. I can also guarantee its near-perfect condition. For the sake of discussion, though, I would be willing to call all that a wash because people here don't seem to care and I don't have a superdrive.

Then you have to add on top the extra Applecare. Granted, you could get more warranty than my computer has left, but it would cost you $350 for that one additional year. If you don't want to spring for that, my computer comes with more warranty than you're going to get with an Apple refurb. With that in mind, I really don't think that $1300 (or even a bit more) is unreasonable.

Those are just my thoughts, though. I don't really expect anyone here to pay that much for it, but if they did I would almost certainly bite.

Anyone else have thoughts on the matter?

Well I guess that ended up being about the most worthless feeler thread ever. Regardless, I'll go ahead and put this bad boy up on the FS block.

Price will start at $1300 shipped (due heavily to the nearly two years of Applecare remaining), and I will entertain other offers (but don't even bother if you're just going to offer some rediculously puny amount).

I would love to make a deal with someone wanting to rid themselves of an iBook - especially those with 12" 1.33GHz iBooks. If your iBook has Applecare left I will look very favorably upon it. Next best would be something still eligible for Applecare. Finally, non-careable iBooks would be considered.

If you have an iBook but no longer care for the portability, I would also be interested in trading the Mac Mini in my sig (with original packaging and everytihng) and my Samsung 172x monitor (no dead pixels; all original packaging) for it!

I would prefer taking offers by PM, but feel free to post them here or where ever.

To make this perfectly clear (since I have had a couple people ask me this):

I will sell the monitor separately from the Mini, but I will not sell the Mini separately from the monitor... unless the monitor has already been sold.

My reason for this is because if I just sell the monitor I can upgrade to a larger one and not have a spare monitor sitting around. If I sell both, I can get an iBook and then swap my PowerBook for an iMac (so, again, I would not have need for another monitor).

That being said, please keep the questions/offers coming! Don't feel like you can't make me another offer, just be reasonable. :)

Price drop to $1200.

You're getting at least $200 worth of Applecare ($350 from Apple)
$50 worth of extra RAM ($30 if sold used)
$20 worth of free shipping
A PowerBook is amazing condition for about $1000.

Deal pending on the PowerBook. This post will be edited to reflect a completed or a failed deal.
