what are the garageband loops that I can erase to get back like 5gb from my HD?

I've read a lot about it but don't actually know what they are or how to erase them. I've only read that they take up space and are removable. I don't have much need for it since I'm not in the music business and don't really care much for composing videos or songs.

thanks for your help

I believe they're generally .aif files. You can Spotlight .aif and find them to dump them.

They are sound files for GarageBand (the iLife app) that you can use as accompaniments to your recordings. If you don't think you'll need them (and don't plan on doing any podcasts or iMovie projects where you might want some effects), then go ahead and erase them. You can always reinstall them from the DVD.
