Bob goes on to speculate about what this might mean - on this forum, folks are talking a bit about a new 1 series (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/220559/). In that MR thread, there's even a link to a store accepting pre-orders for a 22 MP 1 series. Bob's write-up provides a bit of a current rumors round up (which is broader than a new 1 series - new low end, revised current bodies, etc.) and I thought folks might find it interesting. So it seems that Canon think they have something important to announce and that they will do it on August 24th.
