The energy is amazing but they've kinda been overdone down here. It became ridiculous. I couldn't even go out for a quiet drink at the pub without them playing on the stage.
Still, there's something about a trumpet that just makes me wanna dance. :D

Yep, top-notch Aussie band. Energetic and the music is quite unique, they were heavily played down here so we all got a bit too familiar but they still can pump out a great tune.

I saw them at Bonnaroo for the first time back in June. They definitely had me on the dance floor. Very energetic although their accents can make me laugh sometimes. Some of the talking parts in the songs just don't seem like they sound quite right, but I'm also not Australian.

I went to school with Harry Angus the trumpet player. Just a little tidbit :D He was a few years ahead of me though.

Any band that claims to be an Empire of Cats is all good in my book...

They have to be seen to be appreciated. Their albums don't give justice to their live performances so if you're thinking of checking them out, wait 'til a concert roles by.

Saw them last summer at the Shepard Bush Empire. My housemate had a CD of theirs and she'd booked tickets for both of us, and I was a little wary of the gig as it wasn't my normal bag (baby:D )
They freakin' blew me away. Simply awesome. A group who are truely at their best on stage. I love the albums now, but they really don't capture how good they are live. They even managed to take the live "vibe" crown from Ozomatli IMO. Didn't know they were touring the UK again!
I think me and my housemate were the only two Brits in there... everyone else (literally!) was an Aussie!

I know my dad was the same! He'd heard me play The Cat Empire, and he didn't mind it but he didn't instantly latch onto it. Now he's been to gigs for the past 40 years, shaken hands with all the classics, Betty Wright, James Brown, The Four Tops, seen Jimi Hedrix (at the same venue we went to see TCE), and he said that The Cat Empire was the best live gig he's EVER been to!! It was a truly incredible gig!!!
