The current version of Firefox takes pretty long to open at startup (about 8 bounces) while Safari only takes two bounces. I tried the Intel-only build but it took the same amount of time to open and some of my extentions didn't work with it. Anyway, idoes is it possible that when Firefox 2.0 is released it open a lot faster (almost as fast as Safari)? Thanks.

I'm going to say probably not. For 2.0, a lot of new features are going to be added, but I don't think it will be any less of a Windows port than the current version is. I, for one, won't be using it any time soon on my Mac.
that is your quote from your other thread. i've already explained to you that on startup items are slower. you have a macbook - I have a duo iMac. why on earth NOT set it to open on startup then after the macbook is ready to roll click on it. 1 bounce is nothing so please stop looking for something to complain about.
Try for yourself: Firefox Beta 1 has been out for a while, Beta 2 is right around the corner...
I found Beta 1 a bit buggy, and rolled back to Bon Echo Alpha 3 (aka Firefox 2.03a) which has been very stable and good.
Remember to back up your Firefox profile before testing out betas (or alphas)!!! <-- I don't often use more than one exclamation mark, but I find it necessary here...

For a very fast browser, might I suggest Shiira? I'm using the beta version right now and it is lightening fast - it is also universal binary... (there are a few bugs, mind).
the new 2.0 nightly build is very fast.
I just tested JS speed, its faster than recent webkit nightly build. only second to recent camino 1.1 nightly build.
the problem of Shiira is that it still has many compatibility problem, just like safari RSS. webkit is faster than both of them.

As for Intel, will it be faster on an Intel machine? It depends on the CPU speed (and GPU speed soon on trunk) and how it has been compiled.
Minefield/BonEcho here takes one bounce on my iMac.
Also, it is not a Windows port.

Alpha 3 has been very stable for a long time, and I've gotten Sage to work, so all in all I'm more than happy with Bon Echo 2.0a3.
Nightly builds are fine but, a bit of a hassle to upgrade all the time...
Gonna give Firefox beta 2 a try on Tuesday (if they're on schedule), though. Hopefully that is a bit better than beta 1.
