I just copied and pasted the specs from Sony's site. Also do you think it would make a big difference if I upgraded it to XP. The only problem there is I don't have the upgrade CD that Sony provided, so I need to buy one to upgrade (Legally that is), It has been running XP, but I re-installed with the recovery CDs so it has Windows ME at the moment. So what do you think? Thanks

You can't legally put software on that machine and then sell it, unless you're going to include said software with the machine.

That machine is worth $150-$200 at most, I think.

I don't intend on installing software on it that I don't include, hence why it only had ME on it cause I don't want to buy XP, and don't want to install an illegal version. I do try to be legal :)

You can forget about even thinking of running Vista on it.

My recommendation: Find a local charity or library that you can donate the machine to, and take a tax deduction for the value of the PC. Or, find a family member who doesn't have a PC and just needs something that they can web surf and check e-mail on.

are you kidding? XP can run on computers with 128mb of RAM easily. Hell I've seen 700mhz Pentium 3 Dell Laptops handle XP effectively.

VAIOs are great machines btw, best of luck with selling it!

About 100-120.

The price of RDRAM kills any resale value due to the pricing to add more RAM.

Plus then its a Socket 423, which is only upgradeable to 2.0 GHz, and thats one HELL of an expensive chip because its so rare.

he said vista, not xp. quake 3 would run fine on a 700mhz laptop (as i can attest to) but quake 4 would own it.

*re-read's clayj's post*

*feels stupid :o*

Yeah, that would be nice, but I could use any extra $ that I can get for it, even if it is only $100-$150. I hate to sound cheap but I have it all fidured out, I guess I can post it on Ebay and if it doesn't sell then give it to somebody.

Craigslist is free, you deal with people face-to-face (which means no shipping and no chance of getting scammed as long as you deal only with people face-to-face), and there are a lot of bargain hunters up there. I sold my PowerBook G4 through Craigslist and got a really good price for it.

I wouldn't recommend eBay... you'll end up paying a listing charge whether the machine sells or not, and you'll end up having to ship the computer and worry about all of that.
