$1299 ibook ?

My dad has decided to get me a mac.Im looking at the $1299 ibook that has the 12 inch screen and the combo drive.Is it worth getting.Im not going to be doing any serious things with it.Keep in mind this will be my first and Im just 13.

The iBook is great. My sister has one--she's 11 and uses it all the time. She does Keynote presentations for school and her teacher is always very impressed.

The iBook should be a great computer for you, unless you want to get into video editing (I'm 15, so don't start saying Final Cut Pro is too complex for us kids ;)). The iBook doesn't handle tough stuff like that too well.

I think that would be perfect machine for you. I want to get one as well just for general stuff. One thing is for sure, no matter what mac you get, you will not be dissappointed.

I have the 1299 iBook and its great. I'm taking it to college next year and I'm very happy with it and its pefromace. It does MSWord and mosto f the iapps pretty weel. I have a feeling it will be perfect. Sadly even thought I have acess to a faimly PC but I use the iBook almost always. Also i hope your considering 802.11b if you have broandband and definately upgrade the ram its essential. Once you go wifi you never go back.

My iBook 466 (Clamshell) works quite well with 320MB RAM (maxed) with Photoshop and OS 9 running at once, so your iBook should do very well.

Not to mention you are getting a compact 12 inch model.

You are lucky indeed. You'll love iBook. It will also be good introduction to wonderful world of Mac.

an ibook is an awesome computer to buy, screen is big enough for me (laptop wise), easy to use, and kinda-long lasting battery, the only problem i have with it is that the cd burner acts as a 8x cd burner at times :(
either than that, i love it :D

Get the iBook. I know a couple people who have iBooks and they love them. They use theirs for web browsing, e-mail, and the occasional editing in iMovie, and they work great.

It will probably be perfect for you.
