I ripped a DVD, and converted it to MPEG-4 using Handbrake. Does this mean that i can erase the Video-TS files that MTR created for me, while still keeping the MPEG-4 file?
sorry for the noobishness of this question, i just don't want to lose the file...

I think so. I have ripped a few videos with Handbrake and have deleted all such files. Nothing bad has happened to me.

I don't understand the point of using Mac The Ripper. Handbrake itself can encode and convert a DVD into an .avi, .mpg, or .mp4 file.
Mac The Ripper just copies the VIDEO_TS / AUDIO_TS.

Well, I'm using it in anticipation of getting a faster machine soon. I have almost all of my dvd collection on external hd, so when I do get my new baby I can just queue them up and let it fly.
I also gather it's faster than just popping in the disk, and it uses the dvd drive less (which can only be better for a mechanical part).
