I was always told never to use programs like Kazza, iMesh, or Limewire to download due to the hacking, viruses, spyware. Is it technicaly ok for me to download using my Mac becuse i am mostly immune to viruses and such?

You realize that technically, it's not okay to download most things that are on Limewire, Kazaa, and etceteras (unless you're in Canada or some other file-sharing lax country). But you will find that the mac won't be affected by the spyware and viruses.

I keep hearing Canada mentioned. Is Canada allowed to download or something?

Downloading files is legal in Canada. (http://news.com.com/2100-1027_3-5182641.html)
Not necessarily uploading though. But downloading definitely is.

Limewire is an unstable java-based app, and it may cause you problems , like it did for me. See the thread of my problems:

you technically can... but you shouldnt discuss illegal downloading here. they run a clean site here. trying to avoid any legal problems.
