What's up with rock bands having "boy" and "kid" in their names?

Who the hell are these boy bands you listen too. I have never heard of any of them. They must all suck. The Beach Boys, Beastie Boys and Boys to Men are the only boys bands that have amounted to anything. If your into real boy bands go listen to Nsync and New Kids on the Block now that's some great music. jk

I have heard all of the bands' song listed, and they range from decent to terrible. I relish in irony. If this is considered a hate thread, think not, I just think that, although the bands do have boy and kid in their names, their names are somewhat identical. whether it be for marketing or just a coincidence. just wanted to point out.

Alright. I just need to take a second. Fall Out Boy is not bad music. Do I hate what they've become and who their fanbase has become? Yes. Are they completely full of themselves now, which has turned them into pompous jerks who make crappy music videos and play even crappier live shows? Yes. Does that mean that their music sucks? I personally do not think so. I think I have an advantage because I don't have MTV and therefore don't have to see their faces or hear their voices every five minutes, but I first heard of them when the Project Rocket split came out and I can't say I'm sick of their music yet. I am a little sick of them as people, but that doesn't mean they make crappy music. I'm going to stop because I'm not sure if I'm really getting through to you and I know that most people are too tightly strapped down onto the "I hate Fall Out Boy because it's cool to hate Fall Out Boy" bandwagon to have an open mind about what I'm saying.

And let me cover a few things before anybody tries any of them:
1. I am not a 13-year-old girl. I'm 19 years old and I'm not a girl. I'm not going to call you "gay" if you don't agree with me. I know that a disagreement over music does not mean that you like to have sex with members of the same gender.
2. I am not a scene kid.
3. I listen to music because of the music, not because of the image it fits. For example, the "hardcore rockers" all decked out in their black eyeliner and lip piercings and girl pants usually scoff at me because I wear Hollister and Abercrombie, when in fact, I like the same music they do and I've probably been listening to it since back when they were N*Sync fans. If your clothes describe the kind of person you are, I'm just going to be naked all the time. That would actually be pretty sweet.

Rant over. Sorry if you're a 13-year-old girl who loves Fall Out Boy because "they're so hot" and you have no idea what I'm talking about. And as for the "they're so hot" notion, last time I checked, Patrick was still almost bald and Pete still lived with his parents when not on tour. Is that attractive?
