I was just wondering how to create a tag/ribbon similar to this one that I could put on my custom wallpapers. I would also love to know how he created the fabric texture on the wallpaper. Thanks!

I was also wondering this a while ago and came across this link, which shows a stitched effect, although I'd be interested to see if people had any better ways of doing it.

As for the ribbon, I think it's a diagonal striped pattern layered over a gradient of the colour and blended, but again, I would be interested to know of better methods.

I'm wondering if the easiest method might be to just make the pattern in Illustrator and apply lighting effects in Photoshop.

though if you wanted to stick to Illustrator, you could make the brown section a compound path and apply the gradients to boxes which sit behind it. Similar technique for the silvery lines...just draw them up, expand and make them a compound path, and apply a gradient to it.

but here again, Photoshop would probably give you a more consistent effect re: lighting...

whew...I wouldn't even bother with this. Though as a digitizer, I would definitely cheat i.e. just digitize the thing and make a pic out of the preview display.

Do you know much about embroidery? You could probably download the Punto demo (embroidery software for mac) and fake it...t
