Looking for some sort of mount to attach an iPod nano (or even 5G) to a pedal bike. Anyone know of such a device? Or made one themselves?

Are you looking to be able to change songs while riding? Without a wired remote? How easy does it need to be to remove the iPod from the bike?

Yeah basically I want to have control of the click wheel (though I needn't be able to see the screen, I literally want to be able to pause, and next/previous keys)

As for removability - it needs to be possible to remove when I park the bike up at the station for example.

I'm not sure if anything like this even exists, just figured it was worth a shot :)

you could somehow attach the ipod to the bike, then strap the remote on the handle bars

I would suggest getting one of the nano armbands and then strapping it around your lower arm... that way you can still control it.

AirClick uses RF signals that travel through walls for control anywhere in your home or outside, up to 60 feet away. The five button remote allows for play/pause, next track, previous track, and volume up and down. A hold switch on the side prevents accidentally disturbing your musical nirvana. The remote has a clip on it for convenient attachment. iPod and iPod mini packages include a convenient remote holder with velcro straps to allow attachment as an armband or to a bicycle frame or steering wheel.

This looks like the best idea.

What if your bike gets stolen?

Can you not use a Shuffle? (Unless your doing some sort of Cycling marathon :p )

For security, ease of use, and portability - a Nano in an Arm Strap would be best. Fix this under your forearm, and have the wired remote stitched up the arm of your jacket, so just press your bicep (where the remote would be) to change track/vol.

This way, its easily removeable to charge, and shouldn't get damaged/stolen/dirty.

Close. Strap it on the upper arm ( bicep / tricep ) where it is suppose to go. I do this all of the time. It works well enough. I tried placing it on my forearm, ... so I could see the screen but that was extremely awkward and uncomfortable.

Well this is why I'd like it detachable :) I'm gonna take a look at the airclick site now.

from a legal standpoint, riding (along with driving) in most states with headphones is against the law. from a common sense standpoint, you're being careless by riding with headphones as it reduces your sense down to one. sight.

Hi
It may or may not be illegal in MN -- I've biked passed law enforcement -- but I keep my iPod usually at minimal volume but no higher than 1 / 4. This allows me to hear my music under most situations but still also hear traffic, ... For me, it is important to hear traffic for my convenience ( i.e. it makes it quicker when approaching intersections to hear if vehicles are approaching ).

I saw a guy last year who had an IPOD with dock & small external speakers strapped to his handlebars. It was about 6 inch x 3 inch unit with battery power.
