Firewire on PC Card Slot

I am thinking about buying a PC Card Firewire add-on card. The reason I am thinking about this, is that I am, for the second time, experiancing a firewire failure on my G4 TiPB 500Mhz. Is there any name brand you can recommend? Is this a viable solution?

99% of ALL PCMCIA firewire cards are built with the generic Texas Instrument PCMCIA firewire chipset... 9 out of 10 will not be any better quality than the other... companies just buy them and put there label on them. Just go for the one that has the best warranty coupled with the best price
