When's Apple's next update going to be?

I'm going to be getting a laptop in September, a MacBook, but I want to know when they're going to be do the next lot of upgrades so I can wait and see if they get one. I'm looking for a Core 2 Duo, as I guess that's the next step for the MacBook. I don't need one, but I'm still wanting to wait for the next update just in case.

So, when is there next conference/convention scheduled for?

Apple Paris Expo: I think its around sep. 15th or so.

Also, there may be a 'one more thing' event like last year... its a possibility.
Nobody can predict those until the invitation goes out.

Likely now that all the Intel machines have been announced, they may go back to something like the Tuesday events -- saving iPods and actual new HW and SW for the expos.

Apple said they wanted to get rid of releasing new crap and the expos, the Intel machines moved them back into that trap. Lets see if this update gets them out of the trap or not.

Otherwise, sales are going to suck for Apple right before every Expo again.

Apple Expo runs from Sept 12-16, and there will be no keynote.

But that doesn't mean there won't be product releases in September.

Well it'll be this week. Unless it's next week. Then again Apple may wait until next month. Of course if it doesn't happen by the end of next month it won't much matter to me as I will have self-destructed from the anticipation. :rolleyes:

If you consider that all their manufacturing is outsourced, what is to stop a poor woman who is only making $50 a month to go to a newspaper to reveal Apple's next big thing for a little kick back?

That is, of course, assuming they are allowed to leave the factories at all.

In my opinion Apple will introduce new iPod Nanos at Macworld Paris, the fact that Steve isn’t giving a keynote leads me to believe that we defiantly won’t see anything major, such as an iPhone or new video iPod. If an iPhone really is on the way, and Apple isn’t introducing it in Paris, this leads me to believe its either not a world phone, or Apple really is creating a virtual network. As far as notebooks are concerned, I strongly doubt they will be released in Paris. I’d say probably September 5 or some other Tuesday in September. Apple hates releasing upgrades at major events, because that:
A) Takes most of the surprise out of it, and B) Most people stop buying notebooks about a month before the event. I’m not super sure apple will be putting Core 2 Duo in it’s Macbooks this soon. Especially with the ppw problems they’re having. However, as far as the Macbook Pro lineup is concerned, apple needs to get Core 2 Duo in the ASAP, if they want to continue to remain super competitive, and continue to gain market share. Theres a reason Dells sales are down almost 50% and Apple’s market share (notebooks anyway) have doubled. Hear that Michael! Maybe its you that should give up trying to make a successful company.

I think the comment was more lending to, what stops grossly underpaid workers from spoiling apple’s secrets. The money they could make leaking something major could be substantial to them. Apple wouldn’t sue them. Imagine the publicity “Large, US- based technology company Apple Computer, sued a factory worker making $3 a day for leaking Apple’s next iPod in order to feed her family” I don’t think they’d do that. And for some reason, I don’t think apple does either.
