Attached are some pics of a school getting rid of the pcs and macs they no longer needed. We showed up at the end when the prices were really low and we picked all this up for 35 bucks.

533 G4 Tower
Dell Monitor 15"
Keyboard and Mouse
2 5400/200 PowerMacs
PowerMac G3

Not too bad. Actually the tower was 35 dollars and they threw in the rest for free!

Just a few questions. How good is that G4? If I added RAM, how much could it be sold for on ebay?

Sounds cool! You can get some neat upgrades to the G4 processor too....I just saw stuff at OWC going up to I think it was dual 1.8ghz or so was the most expensive one.
 
If you add some RAM, you'll get about $150 for that rig, plus the selling price of the peripherals. Pretty sweet profit🙂
 
woooow. pretty good deal!! jsut imagine the profit you would make by reselling what you could have gotten with 140 dollars (4X as much stuff). lucky you..... i would have had alot of fun at this school.
 
Wow nice! Sounds like a better deal than the ibook laptop fiasco giveaway last year at that school (henrico?).

Yea, I almost drove 4 hours from Southern Virginia for that. Glad I didn't. What a mess!
 
It's amazing what universities will throw away. Where I go to school people buy the old electronics at the surplus warehouse and most make a living reselling this stuff on ebay! I should do this to make some extra cash for the MBP that I'm buying next month!

damn, score a decent g4 tower for $35? I'd go get a dual 1.8ghz upgrade & max out the ram, price be damned your still ahead.
 
Wooooah. I would've bought all the G4s and turned them into some kind of Folding@Home farm. And I would've gotten an iMac in each color. 🙄

BTW how do you figure out that stuff like that is happening?
i don't see any G4s in those pictures. All i see is G3 B&Ws, imac G3s, and generic grey towers...

Or can't you link machines to co-process in Tiger? I'd buy a bunch of G4 towers, hook them together, and give the G5 quad a run for its money...

im still amazed at how little the poster got in this huge deal. i seriously would have bought at leat 4 times as much...
 
They're were only about 3 G4's in the pic.

I'll post maybe some pics of what I got tomorrow.
