Well, it looks like Safari v67 is out, there are already screen shots over in the Spymac gallerys; and I'm in the queue to download it now (;)). So has anyone else got it yet? (Other that u ADC guys)
edit: Anyone with any version of Safari may find this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22663) of interest.
edit2: After contacting the author of Safari Enhancer, they have updated it to work with v67. You can download it here (http://homepage.mac.com/gordonbyrnes/software/safari_enhancer.dmg). With this you can add/remove brushed metal, as well as various other things, full info can be found here (http://gordon.sourcecod.com/sites/safari_enhancer.php).

Yeah, it seems better, tabs are now included as default with proper prefs, and it seems faster too.

it's a good build. autocomplete forms are better and external links (from mail, etc...) open in tabs of the current window.
safari is going to be good after all. shame on me for doubting. it remains to be seen if chimera will really be over-shadowed, at the moment it still conforms to standards better than safari. wait, i meant to say camino. still getting used to the name change:D

Why is Apple putting out so many versions and not making it publicly available? Are they waiting for something, or will this go through the testing and come out with v70 for everyone else eventually?
Very strange, cause they have to know that its relatively easy to get online.

my guess on their thoughts, go something like this...
build v60 was a good fundamental build
with v64 things got a little more drastic. the evolution of tabs and autocomplete has taken many obvious steps. despite calling all safari build's beta. you could say v60 is a beta a build, like a significant beta, while v62 v64 and v67 are more like interim builds until those features being tested are complete.
v60 was basic feature complete and v70(???) will be tab & autocomplete feature complete...
my opinion anyway... and there are probably flaws in my thinking. oh well.

someting else about this build with the tabs, they no longer show up as brushed metal using skins, which is good, since they were the only bit still brushed metal in previous builds. hating brushed metal with a passion, as i do. hate aqua too =)

My god! I can't tell you how much of an improvement this is! I have been using it all afternoon, opening and closing tabs, accessing multiple websites in separate tabs etc. And doing all of this has also been MUCH faster than it was in v64, and not a single crash :D Now I think it can compete with Camino 0.7.
I really think Apple should release every build they make, everyone knows and understands that this is a beta and will accept any flaws. Releasing regular updates will no doubt keep the interest of many more users in the quickly developing browser. Also having more users using and testing the latest builds will surly provide more useful feedback for the developers, what's the point in them receiving bug reports from an outdated beta?
Nice job so far Apple, now all you need to do is let the rest of the world in on this build, C'MON!

i would be happy to share it, but

Autofill still needs some work. Have not had any luck with it. Hopefully, that cookie fix is not in this version. Overall, looking good but does not work with Citibank as of yet.

Did what I could.
And I'm not having much luck with autofill either. Does the debug menu matter any, now that autofill is part of Safari's prefs? I have both autofill options activated under debug.

Autofill is automatically on, I'm having some problems too but it works once you use it the 3ed time. :D
I have access to de-bug menu, nothing too special.

Hehe, anyone remember that thread where "djjuice" said that they never had bulids with an odd number :D anyway, I wanna get my hands on a copy of this, I am fooling w/ v64 and I am content for now....but when will they give us (public) something even more stable....
sparkleytone
Mar 22, 2003, 01:06 AM
so far v67 appears much more stable than v64. v64 was probably the most unstable build to have been leaked yet. it would crash at least twice a day for me.
Awimoway
Mar 22, 2003, 01:12 AM
v67 has crashed once for me tonight. v62 almost never did, so it's not a great sign, as far as I'm concerned. (v64 didn't last more than a couple of days, it was so bad.)
Force quit didn't even work and I had to force restart my computer (good thing I'm not an uptime phreak), but force quit has been troublesome ever since 10.2.4.
sparkleytone
Mar 22, 2003, 01:38 AM
forgot to mention ALOT of layout bugs have been fixed. all vBulletin board such as this one now render correctly without the vertical lines being all over the place.
as far as making a program quit, if safari just wont quit, drop into the terminal and 'killall Safari'
Awimoway
Mar 22, 2003, 01:45 AM
Everything froze. I couldn't have pulled up Terminal if I'd wanted to. Even the beachball spun eerily slower than usual.
It was a Blackboard site, and the site itself has not been rendering properly in Safari since v62 at least (I can't remember beyond that). I get a garbled paragraph of kanji (sp?) instead of what should be there (tables, in English).
But, yeah, tables look much times better.

I figure they are watching user response on the web. They've already made it very clear that they are paying attention to the rumor sites. I'm sure they want the next official release to be something to users take notice.
Apple, if you are reading this and looking for feedback, give me an option to make it AQUA! And send me a free PB. Or maybe just buy me some ice cream.

Well, I'm not as impressed as I might be. There is a simple page of text on my web site (my resume, to be precise) that Safari has yet to render correctly. v0.67 does a better job than earlier versions, but it still fails to turn off the bold on the text. (Earlier versions failed to turn off both the bold and the underline.)
Also, v0.67 doesn't handle my opening page very well at all. It loads the page, then at the last minute it changes to a page of gobbledigook. I checked it with v0.60, and it seems to handle it just fine. [Okay, I just reloaded the opening page in v0.67, and it did in fact display it correctly. However, the initial problem makes me somewhat dubious.]
BTW, has anyone else noticed that v0.67 is almost twice as big as the previous versions? What does it do that takes that much more code?!?

not to be offensive, but thats more your fault than Safari's. in fact its very much along the same lines as Hyatt has been blogging about.
Get rid of the <B> in this line:
<P><B><U><TABLE COOL WIDTH="750" HEIGHT="1177" BORDER="0"
it works fine after that. the fact that the underline now turns off even tho it shouldn't be there either just goes to show that they are having to fix bad code.
the reason the safari app is bigger now is due to included localizations.

I downloaded v67 ealier today. Tabs and autofill are pretty cool but not done yet, that's for sure. I have a lot of problems getting pages to render correctly. When I try to open up CNN.com in a tab it doesn't render correctly at all...almost no info shows up. I deleted it already and am sticking with v62 until Apple formally releases a new public beta. I didn't intend on using it full time anyway (v67 that is) just wanted to see the progression.

cnn.com still looks its best for me when I open it in a tab with v67.

The autofill icon--the one on the toolbar, not the one in Safari prefs--looks out of place. All the other icons are much more abstract.

I sugest making the google bar smaller so they can space out the buttons, now that autofill is there. do I need like a super long text to search, no not really...
you can type all of this 'I can type alot in this google car it aint funny!!!!!!' On my 17" no matter how big you make the screen the box's stay in the same place. :(

You can change the size of the google search bar, just place your mouse between the URL and Google areas, and drag to resize.

No offense taken. I hadn't even noticed that code. I use a wysiwyg web builder and only peruse the code afterward to see and drastic discrepancies, or if the page is rendering incorrectly. As every other browser I've tried it on rendered this page properly, I didn't think to look at the code myself. I've fixed it now, and next time I update my site, it'll be updated there.
However, as this wasn't an issue for any browser but Safari, I think that it's still something for them to improve.

as to the bug with safari tabs:
i found no problem when it comes to resizing. i do not have is auto select the newest tab.
as to the bug of the first tab always being active:
just wipe the preferences and then use Safari Enhancer v67 compatible to bring back the debug menu etc. SE also has an option for removing the metal inferface and bringing it back. your call.
if you want either of these (v67 or its SE version) email me at benjamingreenau@optusnet.com.au. Safari is 3.4MB as a .dmg.sit file and Safari Enahncer for it is 404KB as a .dmg file.
if you want, you know what to do.

you better take that down before you get caught. i think that;s against the rules to be able to say that. isn't it?

Seems better so far--more stable, able to remove the brushed metal from recessed tabs, and fewer rendering problems. The autofill is still dodgy, though. It won't remember my ESPN bracket even though I've changed the preferences to tell it to remember those sorts of things.
At this point, it's fairly easy to find in any of the places where you would look for software (such as peer-to-peer networks). The e-mail thing is against the rules, though.

There is no click drag thing inbeteen them.
Try reading that I want the ICONS spaced not just make the Google bar smaller hence making the URL bar larger.
