after onyX cleaning, i recovered 6GB space, this s surprising, I don't know OS X took so much space for log/obsolete files and others.
The only places i can think of that might cause this un-necessary space hogging are:
1, Temporary and obsolete Files
2, Trash can
otherwise, i can't match the released space size.

Did it clear the Virtual RAM? If so, then it'll accumulate back up quite rapidly and a simple restart would have had the same effect. :)

Interesting. So what exactly did you get OnyX to do then? :)

I recently installed Onyx. When I try to clean the Temporary files and Force Delete trash (the very last cleaning option) it gets stuck at 75% percent and doesn't budge. I had to force quit it after waiting for a couple of minutes. Anyone else having this problem or am I just being impatient?

If you want to find out what's taking up all your HDD space, use WhatSize (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21149). It is an excellent app.

Have you tried logging out/logging in or restarting, then emptying the Trash?

I even unchecked the Empty Trash Icon. The only things checked are Delete Temporary or Obsolete files and whether to delete or securely delete of which i selected just delete, it still hangs.
