I recently restored my family's old imac, which my sister took to school. I found this wire, which i assume came with the imac...

(sorry about the bad picture quality) I am pretty sure that it is a firewire to mini usb. Any idea why this might have come with my imac G3?

actually i'd say that is a six pin FW to four pin FW.

Looks like a 6-pin/4-pin FireWire cable to me...

Edit: Missed it by that much...actually a whole two minutes. I'm really slow today.

yeah. a lot of MiniDV camcorders have the four pin on the camera itself and the six pin is for the computer. its mainly for device connection.

Yes...it would be used to hook up a FireWire device containing a four-pin port to your Mac. The most common thing with a four-pin port would be a video camera...the smaller four-pin port saves space on a small, portable piece of equipment like that.

Edit: Arrghh...beaten again! ;)
