You can change the size of the cursor in the Mouse pane of Universal Access in System Preferences. There are some other features in Universal Access that you may be interested in. :)

The omnigroup has Omnidazzle (http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnidazzle/content.php). Not free, but it in addition to being able to find the mouse pointer easier, it adds some interesting special effects.
Hmm... what mac do you have? It requires 10.4.6 and a core image video card.

From this thread... (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=2761410&posted=1#post2761410)
Try Mouse Locator (http://www.2point5fish.com/), it's free and seems to do the job. The default green circle may not be the greatest, but there are alternatives that can be downloaded and they are easy to install (just drop the new one into your Pictures folder and try it out in System Preferences).

I used to use this feature frequently but I recently got the wireless Mighty Mouse and the ctrl plus scroll feature to zoom is a fantastic help.
