that's one hell of an ugly plaid... pink, blue green, ick...

i'll bet .5 is it, it's always been a good number to end on and the codename says it all...

Plaid?

Jaguar Plaid? Hmmmmmm.... I worked at an Apple retail store up until a few months ago, and we were told that the code name for the final update would be Orange, but that there would indeed only be five updates, similar to the updates for 10.1. This makes me think that significant changes were made to the Orange update scheme. I'd look for some pretty impressive stuff to be included in that update.

Tossed salad?

Maybe the name reflects the intention to include a variety of fixes/improvements that didn't quite make it to previous revisions. The end-of the-line comment makes sense considering the uniqueness of the name (a pattern and not a single colour) and it's timing before the first previews of Panther.

Then again, maybe there'll be a 10.2.6, "Paisley"

Or maybe it's a tribute to Piers Anthony? (See the Author's note at the back of Xanth #15, "The Color of Her Panties"....)

Or maybe it's a tribute to "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"? :)

Actually, I think the 'overlapping colors' - finishing up the loose ends - is the most logical explanation.

I'm down below 3 hours on my ibook, and that drops drastically with the use of anything more demanding than word processing... So much for watching a dvd on a plane trip. :(

10.2.5 could be codenamed polka-dot-with-mauve for all I care if it fixes these battery problems. (And after the *fantastic* ipod battery fix I'm hopeful... :D )

Man, that sucks. Since I put 10.2.4 on my iBook, I think my battery has been performing even better! I'm getting 4.5 hours out of my battery. I hope your battery problems get solved.

To get back on topic, I'm inclined to believe that will will see updates for Jaguar stop at 10.2.6. Think about it. 10.0 stopped at 10.0.4, 10.1 stopped at 10.1.5, so I'm willing to venture that 10.2 will stop at 10.2.6.

Battery Usage...

Don't forget to check how your battery usage is set up... your system could be further optimized if you are watching a DVD vs using Photoshop.
Check your System Preferences... ;)

well, i think that the algorithm for the third order version designation max must be "max designation of last one"*"how many times better than the previous" plus one. 10.1 was 100% better than 10.0, and 10.2 was 200-300% better than 10.1; so it will stop at 10.2.13, or even 10.2.19, because those are lucky numbers too :D lol  ;)

I've always considered myself to be an excellent "Pattern Problem Solver."

See Example:
10.0.4, 10.1.5, 10.2.? - Fill in the missing number.

See, it's all just patterns. Yes! I've finally cracked Apple's master plan! Mwahahahaha!

:D :p

10.2.5

I cann't imagine that 10.2.5 will be that significant of an update with Panther around the corner. If Apple continues with the idea of charging for major updates, they need to keep something worthwhile for Panther. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 10.2.? update after Panther is out.

Plaid

The school colors of Carnegie Mellon University, the alma mater of Avie Tevanian, are plaid. Not sure if it has any bearing, but I thought I'd point it out.

Funny you ask that.

I was thinking 'clear'.

I live with snails 'cause I like things that are smarter 'n me,
And my favorite color is clear." -things I say when I've performed a pedodentology

That would make since if this were the last update for jaguar. Plaid raps up all the colors. Maybe 10.2.5 will be it for jaguar.
