Comments, critiques (especially), suggestions...please! Alternate text appreciated, too...a quote maybe?
(on the artwork...not the politics)

Hmmm...I really like the photo. However, the "In memory of..." text is a bit 'woolly' in my opinion. With a picture like that, the question is, do you even need text? Perhaps just the date: "September 11th 2001" will do (I wouldn't recommend "9/11" because the phrase has become so widely used it brings up too many connotations of news reports or political speeches). Make sure the text is understated; it will have more effect if it is subtle. The photo is the main speaker of the message.
Also, that font is a big no-no in my book. Looks more like something you'd see on the poster of a the latest sci-fi blockbuster. It doesn't really match the message.

Yeah...I didn't really know what I wanted the text to be...and I wondered if just "September 11, 2001" conveyed that that was when the picture was taken. It was obviously taken months and months later.
Thank you for your suggestions.
