Hi i can get a PowerBook Notebook 15.2" Titanium 667MHz G4, 256MB, 30GB HD, Combo for $540. Do you think that is a good price? If you can find a better iBook (atleast g4) for the price range with a combo drive will you please post it. I've looked around and this is the chapest I can find a powerbook for.

IMO not a good deal at all. I sold my ibook 12" 1.33 Ghz with 40 GB HD and 1.5 GB RAM in great condition and still under warranty for $770 shipped. And I got a lot for it. Those ibooks can go for $650 sometimes, and they're so much faster with so many more features than that Ti it's not even funny.

Yeah, while the screen size makes a difference (15" is a lot bigger than the 12"), I'd still say that price is about 100 dollars too high.

Yep, sounds a bit too high to me. Maybe if it the RAM was maxed out and it had a bigger HD, then it may be worth close to $540, but not with the current specs.

They are nice laptops, though. I had one briefly a while back and enjoyed it. It had the same specs as the one in question (Actually, mine had a bigger HD) and I'll say from experience, 256MB is NOT enough RAM, unless you are running exclusively in OS 9.

No way - too expensive. Add a few bucks more and get an Intel Macbook used.

Haha, you mean double? :)

I'm sure you can find a bargain on one for $450 or so which I find more reasonable

I agree that the tiBook you're considering purchasing is a good, fun computer. I also agree, with other commenters, that the asking price is too much, and I want to reinterate that the 256mb of RAM is certainly deficient.

Those Ti's are great looking machines but the specs are weak and out of date.
An O.K. machine for gramps though who just wants the basics.

Go to the Apple refurb pages and look at the factory guranteed 1.33 GHz iBook
12" Wireless, BlueTooth, ComboDrive 40 GB HD, Tiger, iLife and just rolling on 512 MB RAM. $799.00 US.

Hey, I'm not your gramps and I'm using a tibook as my main machine. It constantly has about 10 programs open as well as widgets. It hasn't slowed down at all. The only thing I have to do is replace the airport card with a pcmcia card for better connection and get a usb 2.0 card as well. After that, I'm set till Apple comes out with its next "gotta have it" laptop. If I were a desktop man it would have been a mac pro now, but for now, I don't see a reason to move up to a macbook(pro)

I bought a 667 MHz tiPowerbook on craigslist a couple weeks ago. It was upgraded to a 1gb of ram, 80gb hard drive, airport card installed, and a superdrive. It also came with all original manuals/disks and the box. All for only $450. Now that's a pretty good deal.

yeah, there you go. $100 cheaper, more RAM, more HD, airport, superdrive. I'd actually say that's more than fair, that's a really nice find.
