i do not want to download drives from the net
...and do you have any particular reason for doing so?
Details, like printer make/model etc. would be helpful. As would puntuation.

You're being a bit evasive.
Are you trying to buy a printer?
I'm sure if you just go to the Canon, Epson, and HP websites, they'll be able to tell you which printers are Mac OS X compatible. Generally, you won't have to install any printer driver from a CD-ROM because they're generally already included with Mac OS X.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you want buying advice with a printer, or support for a printer you've already purchased and can't get to work?

no offense, but your TWO posts are very incomprehensible. it was very difficult to figure out what is that you want with limited detail and massive improper english.
if you need help getting a printer that you already have to set up, please provide the following details
brand AND model of printer
whether the printer comes with disc for your operating system
and you said you don't want to download the driveR from the "net", care to give a reason? because sometimes when you are stuck in the apparently-to-be-new computing world, the driveR from the "net" is exactly what you need.

Whatever you do, don't buy a Lexmark!
They're bad on Windows, but they're horrible on Macs. None come with installers on the CD. Some don't even have drivers (or working drivers) on the website, and some of their printers don't even support after OS 10.2.8!

I have an Epson, cheapie...works great
All Macs come with built in drivers for Lexmark, Epson, and HP printer, and probably more, so no need to download drivers...or at least you shouldn't have to.

You want advice? Then you ask nicely and provide the information those who are trying to help you require.
Stop being annoying and ante up the info or we'll just tell you to bugger off.
And it's "Grammar."

OK, rather than let this thread degenerate into a slanging match about how educated we all are, how about woodydr gives us some more informaiton?
woodydr
1) What type of printer are you talking about? Make and model please.
2) How are you connecting to it? Over a network or via USB?

Umm, I've got a three year old Lexmark hooked up to my iMac now. Works great. Also works fine when I network my Macbook to it. I'm really surprised that it's still working, the only reason I bought it was I didn't want to spend much on printer at the time. Bought it for a PC, worked from day one with my Mac, no drivers needed.

My parents own a cheap, old Lexmark for their old iMac still running OS 9. I took my PB home with me this summer, plugged in the USB cable, and my Mac recognized it right away with no interaction needed from me. I was printing to it within ten seconds of hooking it up.

In general I agree with maxrobertson I'm affraid! I had a lexmark at one point and had to use GimpPrint to get it to work; but even Gimp Print couldn't stave off the sheer cost of the replacement ink cartridges!

Unfortunately, you can't help people who are typing under the influence. They could just make the power button larger. ;)
