Right, I've had this machine for nearly a year and I've had enough.

Whenever I start up (usually sleep), it takes roughly 7 minutes to load. That is a LONG TIME!

Any ideas why it's so slow?

Sorry, iMac G5 running latest 10.4.7 at 2GHz with 1GB RAM.

It's the first iMac G5, the one before the one with iSight.
 
Do you have plenty of free space on the hard drive (8GB at least)? What sort of apps are you running when you wake it up and what is plugged into the Mac? 🙂

No kidding it takes my Powermac About 8 secs to load from sleep and thats only because i have to enter my password
 
Your iMac, like myself, is stuffed.

Run a hardware check from your discs if rebooting does sod-all.
