So my iMac G3/333 won't read CD-Rs. Is there any way to make a CD-ROM? It'll read ROMs perfectly, but struggles on home-made CD-Rs (doesn't matter what brand).

I also read that the reason why the tray-loading iMacs won't read CD-Rs is because the laser is too sensitive and there's a way to make it less sensitive by turning some screw on the CD drive???

No, there's no practical way for you to make a "CD-ROM". CD-Rs are burned, where as regular commercial CDs are pressed. The usual minimum limit on orders for manufacturing of pressed CDs is around 1000 pieces.
