Well, I've never ordered from the Apple Online store before, seeing how I bought my iMac from London Drugs, but I was wondering, if you order from the Apple store do you still pay Canadian GST+PST (13%)? Cause I am ordering the new iMac soon and am wondering if I will be paying 1300+ for the computer or 1600+ (with taxes). Thanks!

Yes, you will be charged both PST & GST, on your final bill.

Find a student to buy it or use an old university ID. You'll save up to $200 with Apple's Education discounts!

If i'm not mistaken, any random number will do as a student ID, it doesn't have to be real (think i recall a thread about this)

ummm 200$ is NOT correct.. I got my macbook and i saved 50$ from the student discount...
Maybe my University sucks or something, or Canada discounts suck... but it was only 50$...

The savings are greater for the pro computers.

You could always buy from the refurb store. Good savings to be had there. (But don't buy the refurb white Macbook for $1225, cause I want it :D)
But yes, sadly we do pay PST and GST. You could always wait till next year, when maybe Harper will have dropped the GST to 5% :).

I dunno, Calgary is getting an apple store before Vancouver hehe. naa BC is beautiful, I have no immediate plans to move there, but I could see myself living there some day.

Well, I live in Ontario and I pay 14% too. But come on, with the edu discount it isn't that bad.
By the way, in Canada, K-12 Teachers don't need to enter ANY information. They select "K-12 Staff", agree to the Eligibility form, and then are in the store. Apple doesn't even ask what school you work at. Hopefully this will be interesting to all of the TEACHERS out there who want to buy Macs. ;)

Apple store taxes for me (Sask) were they werent added in at all, and when you put your order up for confirmation it said estimated taxes were $0.00, but when I clicked the confirm or whatever I cant remember which button it was the order went through with the price I was quoted at, plus ugly PST.
