I am running an ibook g4 and my neighbors and I were sharing a wireless. She is right next door to me so I figured there should not be a problem. When we connect the linksys (Linksys WRT54G), everything works fine for a while and I would have about 3 bars (I am the farthest away from the router). My bars would go down to two bars and sometimes one bar. It would go up and down for a few hours and then finally I would get dropped. I would have an error when I try to connect and eventually I just can't connect to the wireless anymore. My roommate has an HP laptop and he has no trouble at all connecting to it and have excellent signal.

Is there something wrong with my airport or is there some setting I need to change on my computer or the router??

I'm not sure what 'Interface Robustness' does, maybe alters the preamble or something but have you tried enabling it?
