how long does it take to charge a cellphone before first using it.

My samsung d407 came today and it looks really neat! i'm charging it at the moment, and I'm wondering how long it'd take to charge for the first time. this was nowhere in the manual.

BTW, thanks to iSaint for reccomending the phone.

Every cell phone I had has popped up a message on the screen when the charge was done. Otherwise, I'd just let it charge overnight
