Just upgraded my week old macbook to the full 2GB Ram ($163 from 18004memory.com!). The "old" 256Mb chips are sniffing at my girlfriends 1GHZ G4 iBook. The iBook has one available expansion slot which requires a (1.25" 3.3V PC133 compliant SO-DIMM).

Can I put one of my macbook chips in her iBook without killing it?

also, I don't know if this is normal but one of the preinstalled Macbook RAM chips were corroded slightly at the pins

Thanks... That's too bad but thanks.

So what does one do with "old" new RAM?

eBay?

your 256 chips from the MB won't sell. you're better off keeping them in case you ever need to send it in for repair.

i've seen ebay auctions go unsold even with $.99 starting bids.. no market for those things.
