I know back when the minis came out there were some talks of minis upgraded with prerelease Meroms, but now that the mobile Core 2 Duo is officially out, has any one stuck one in a mini, or more importantly, an iMac. I'm wondering I can get my first gen Core Duo iMac up to the specs of the new Core 2 Duo iMacs.

It is not worth it, the performance gains will be marginal at best, besides you will void your warranty. Santa Rosa and beyond is where it is truly at, Yonah owners won't get that much by doing this upgrade

You could probably drop a Core 2 Duo into your mac mini, but it would be prohibitively expensive as the Core 2 Duo chips are very expensive at the moment and you'd have to fully disassemble your mini to get at the CPU Socket.

It's technically possible, just not economically practical.
