looking for a good modem

I've got an older powermac g3 B\W 350 and after checking around I've read LESS than Inspireing reports regarding the modems that were an option with this unit.
I found one made for the above unit for cheap and was wondering If fixes are avalible to make it reliable, If not can someone recommend an Inexpencive(less than $30)56k modem that will work.
