I need to unload a number of accumulated electronics. Various reasons for selling - please see individual item. Prices are ballpark only, please make an offer. I will put some of these things up on ebay in the next week or so. but would like to avoid being worried about getting scammed.

edit: Pics to come.

I have only done business once on MR - bought a mini from backtothemac in March. Local pickup/viewing ok (Iowa!)

In no particular order:

(unused items)

1. Tangerine iMac G3, 400Mhz, currently running (ed)ubuntu. disk drive is questionable - plays cd's, but has not handled burning well. I'm not sure about DVD's. Also, the screen occassionally gets a green tint to it. Price - $50 ??

2. Toshiba Dynabook (as in my sig), running a P4, 2.4 Ghz. Works well, but battery life is about 20 mins. A new battery must be bought from/in Japan. They run at ¥25,000 - ¥30,000 ($ 250 ~ 300 give or take). $400?? - Was purchased for ¥200,000 in 2002, will sell for around $250? (what a hit!)

3. Apple 17" Studio Display. Perfect working/ cosmetic condition - no dead pixels etc. Has just under a year of Apple Care left on it. - Ideally would like to get around $250?? (includes all original boxes/packing)

4. May also sell a Sony Viao desktop. I think it is a PIII 900mhz running xp. I do not know where the original disks are, but I could supply a student licensed version of XP (as per MR rules, protocol, you would have to be a student for this). This machine has a CD-RW/ combo drive and a DVD-RW drive. Not sure about RAM. - No idea. Make an offer

5. Canon Canonoscan U656U scanner. Works with photoshop 7 or OS 9.2 (or windows anything) - $20?

6. Apple iPod Remote. I've never used the remote because it doesn't work with my iPod! I did snatch the buds though, so you'd have to suppply your own. It's still in the box and bag - though the bag has been opened. $20

(more tentative, meant as a feeler):

7. G5 removed from list. Sorry. It just doesn't make sense to buy an intel machine as my main computer until adobe is universal.

That Ubuntu-running orange iMac G4 you mentioned...did you mean to say G3? How well does Ubuntu run on it?

Yes, G3. I'm not sure why I got it in my head that it was a G4. Actually, Apple called it Tangerine (I'll change my description). I believe it is the iMac DV (slot loading model).

Well, to be perfectly honest I am running edubuntu - same thing as ubuntu more or less. It runs fine, I suppose. I mean, computers running at those specs are slow as molasses if you are used to using something more modern (like my G5). I've not done much with edubuntu. I was going to use it as the kid's computer, but things didn't work out that way.

I will install the latest ubuntu on this machine before shipping. IF (big if) I can find a copy of OS 9.2 I could install that instead. When I got it, it was running 10.2, but I really wouldn't recommend doing that.

OK. I'll have to connect it up to something! Give me a bit of time on this. I meant to put up pics today, but I probably need another day.

Also - Note: i've added an iPod Remote to the F/S list

Pics of most items added. Will up the G3 in just a second.

Also, note that I have decided against selling my G5.

The 2405 monitor is being seriously contemplated by another MR member.

Apologies for my slowness putting this thread together and responding to interested parties.

Hey,

I am very interested in the Studio Display, any chance you would be interested in some type of trade for an ipod nano or would you consider lowering the price a bit? Anyway PM me and let me know!

Thanks,
Jason

In case anyone is interested, the details of yojitani and my transaction for the 2405 LCD got complicated. As it turned out, Dell raised the prices of the 2407 at the last minute.. so the sale we had worked out no longer made sense (he was actually going to lose money.) We discussed it and decided that the fair thing would be for him to give me the coupon and I used it to order a new 2407... he keep his.

It worked out well, and although I spent a little more than what I had intended.. I'm very happy with the purchase price. He's a fair and reasonable guy and he made it work out.

Thanks.
