It's not on the page anymore...either it was pulled within seconds or the OP is having us on.
50 and 80 GB doesn't sound logical to me...given known platter sizes, I'd expect a single platter 40 GB and a double platter 80 GB model.

the word "full" looks strange.. it doesn't fit with the rest of the text; it looks like it stands out.
but it could just be me; I woke up about a half hour ago.

I do find 50GB to be a little odd.

It sucks that we're going to have to wait so long to find out the truth.
Oh, wait. Even if Gizmodo's wrong, we've only got a half day to go....

Sep 11, 2006, 10:16 PM
Fake.
Full is capitalized where it doesn't make sense, and the remote description doesn't reference the "Full screen iPod".
plus, calling it a fullscreen iPod seems stupid... it IS a full screen iPod. lol. What is a half screen?
the wording is hokey.

It looks real to me, but I find those HDD sizes odd.
I guess we'll find out tomorrow! :D
EDIT: After reading it closely, I'm starting to doubt that it's real. There is an extra period in the sentence, "Compatible with iPod with full sized display. (50GB, 80GB)."

Agree. It is strange.
A possibility. Maybe they are using different vendors.
I like the full size display description. That's sounds great.
Guess we'll know soon.

plus, every other description says 3 pack and that one only says 2 pack...

The "F" on "Full" doesn't have that kind of fuzz around it like the other normal letters. BS!

Sorry...the OP may have actually seen something, but there are a number of things that call the legitimacy into question. And when it's as easy as this to create a fake, I'll hold out for the real deal.

The "50GB, 80GB" text is positioned higher than the other ones that say "60GB". That seems kind of odd too..

I'm calling fake and shenanigans on this one. To my knowledge no manufacturer makes a 50 GB hard drive. To make one souly for the ipod would not be beneficial to them. You would have had me if you said 40G. Plus apples is not known to have gramatical errors in their website.
jamdr
Sep 11, 2006, 11:47 PM
This is pretty obviously fake to me. The capitalized "F" in Full screen iPod really gives it away, and the extra period as well.
And, as others have said, it would be stupid for Apple to call it the "full screen" iPod. That sounds really lame.

Plus apples is not known to have gramatical errors in their website.
On the contrary, Apple websites do sometimes have small typos, fullstops instaed of commas and the like...

Yeah, two pixels off, no browser's going to do that to a simple line of text.
We really need a better class of hoaxers.

Yeah too true. I wish we had an Apple presence in NZ, although being Appleless did result in you getting 10.4 earlier as I recall.

Yeah, they are way expensive and you can't configure them on the apple.co.nz website so you can't get a quick easy estimate of a BTO Mac in NZ.

That part would be normal on a system without Lucida Grande installed (almost any non-Mac machine out there).

Just remember that in New Zealand, Apple's products are imported by a company called Renaissance. They are basically a glorified Apple reseller of Apple Australia and therefore I doubt they will have any information that a regular Apple reseller anywhere else in the world would have.

The norwegian store tells of a dock adapter for 40GB and 60GB
"Apple iPod Universal Dock Adapter 3-pakning for iPod med fargeskjerm (40 GB, 60 GB)
Bruk en Dock-adapter for å koble iPod til iPod Universal Dock og andre produkter som bruker Universal Dock-systemet. Kompatibel med iPod med fargeskjerm (40 GB, 60 GB).
Price: NOK 79,00"
I'm no expert, but has there ever been a 40GB ipod? or maybe they just wrote it wrong?:p

The 3G iPod in it's last revision was 15GB, 20GB and 40GB
The 4G iPod came out in 20GB and 40GB
The 4G iPod photo came in 40GB and 60GB
So yeah, there have been a few 40GB iPods.

think that they will release a U2 Special Edition cgPod? Will it be compatible with all roasts, or only the especially good ones? How many hours of grinding will I get before I have to recharge? The questions are endless...

hmmm with coffee grinder... well I hope they will build the iGrind allso without iPod so I can use it in my kitchen with my existing iPod or maybe the combo iGrind/iSpresso for the real coffeeaddicts like me :D
since iPod sales are going a bit down find some new exciting products what about iBlend iMix iToast or the all new iWash dishwasher :D
I see the new adds: Hi I'm a PC, Hi I'm a mac, see all my new extra's so I can be a coffeegrinder/espressomachine/toaster/... o and don't forget you CAN buy our premium brand coffee and just like our ramupgrades: overpriced because you'll buy them anyway...

If it's a U2 Special Edition then they're not going to limit you to specific beans but you'll get better battery life if you choose ethically farmed beans specially endorsed by Bono for their role in "helpin' de' starvin' chil'ren."
