Near a Mac since 1993.
I've been using a Sony 16X CDRW inside an OCW Firewire case for a long time now. Searching on xlr8yourmac.com I found that a Lite-On 52X burner works great with iTunes, the Finder, and Toast, so I got one.
The burner does work great and is recognized by all of the apps, but if I turn the case off and turn it back on, the CDRW will not be recognized. I have to unplug the Firewire cable and reconnect it. Then the green light on the burner blinks and it's auto recognized. This was never, ever the case with the Sony. I could turn it on and off a million times and it would go away and reload without issues.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Thank you for your help.

Well, from the research I've done. It seems that some older FW cases need an flash upgrade to recognize drives faster than 24X.
I have no idea where to get this...
