Hello folks,

I am not sure if this is allowed but I scanned the rules and did not see any references to NOT doing this.

I researched, interviewed and then engaged an IP firm [Fulwider Patton] in SoCal to write up a patent application last year and we filed it 5 months ago. It is a process patent for a program that could be cross platform.

There are an abundance of PC developers around, some of whom are friends of mine but I would like to concurrently have a Mac person on the team since in my opinion Mac people tend to do a little more outside of the box thinking and are accustomed to elegance in computing.

What I am offering may or may not be a great deal, it remains to be seen. I will tell you up front that I have not developed a software invention before. I will also tell you that I did successfully invent and market an invention which allowed me to quit my EE job at Northrop in '89 and it continues to feed me today. It is not a huge invention but I never had to work for anyone again.

I believe the patent app I filed [if granted] will be orders of magnitude more successful and can be licensed to manufacturers. If interested, we can chat informally about your qualifications and if there is a match, I can email you a Confidential Disclosure Agreement that you can sign an fax back. Once I receive the CDA, you will get a copy of the patent for your perusal and you can then ask questions.

Your qualities and your qualifications:

Age is not an issue be old enough to write software and healthy enough to be around when we finish the project.
You have spare time to devote to development
You have written working programs before. If not, you are confident that you can get up to speed quickly and compile some sample programs that run.
Ideally, you are also somewhat familiar with developing for the PC side. Although I want to develop for the Mac, the reality is that the demo, unless you can develop it for the Mac, would most likely be PC based.
Are open to giving advice AND taking suggestions
Before you join us, you will have assessed your availability and your stick-to-it-tiveness and will not be wasting our time and yours by joining us and then not being able to continue because you joined the neighborhood bowling team.

Compensation can vary. We would like to have creative, inventive, fertile minds on board. Depending on your ability to contribute, you might be asked to join the team as a partner and given a small percentage of the project or asked to give a quote on writing sections of the code [such as an elegant GUI] and then paid upon delivery of the working code.

The SDK of the device we are going to do the demo requires:

BTW IEEE1394 is called Firewire by Apple (which is also a far better name ;) )

Thanks Eraserhead, I'm aware, I'm a Mac user :D and Sony calls it iLink.

I merely copied/pasted the reqs from the API programmng ref.
